Future of FakeBase
The future of FakeBase
It has been almost 6 years since the first, basic version of FakeBase saw the light of the day. Since then, some 700+ objects has been evaluated and discussed, and today we have some very dedicated and knowledgeful users, eager to share their insight, and eager to learn from each other.
Languages in use
In 2004 we started up as a danish-only site, and eventually people from 'the outside' turned up. Today we have users from all over the world, and objects from many areas are being discussed. We still have a high representation from the Nordic areas, but gradually we get more and more global.
The fact is, that it is time for us to move from the nice mixture of languages, and head for a one-language edition of the future FakeBase. Therefore, from today, i ask everyone to try to use English in all discussions and descriptions, whereever possible. It is not a demand, just a kind request.
Going from a Danish to an international site, it comes natural to change some other stuff. I have started writing a brand new version of the FakeBase, which will make use of some of the new technologies that has emerged over the last years. This new edition will be published early 2010, and at that time we will make a move from fakebase.dk to fakebase.org, reflecting the change from a local to a global service. At the same time we will make a technical move away from the present hosting company, to a new dedicated service. This should help us avoid technical problems like the one we experienced over the last week.
I will give more information on the new features during the next months, so stay tuned.
